Weekly Guidance January 24, 2023
The energy this week is all about bringing more balance into your life. It’s an opportunity to get to know yourself on a deeper level through self-care and time spent in nature.
For those of you who are experiencing winter right now, like me, and are wondering how in the world to ground into nature and the Earth while it’s freezing outside, I was wondering the same thing in December as I walked barefoot in the snow.
I'd spent all spring, summer and fall of 2022 walking barefoot in the grass every day, even when it was pouring rain, and I felt connected into the magic of the Earth and nature in a way I never had before.
I'd been eyeing the approach of winter with a calm acceptance (and a slight terror). I kept telling myself that I could do it...I'd just walk barefoot in the snow. Even on days it was less than zero degrees.
I've seen nordic badasses on youtube do it, so why not me, too?
I could be tough, right?
Here's what I realized as freezing needles of pain shot through the soles of my feet: I am divine feminine. It is safe for me to move my grounding practice INto the house for the winter.
I don't need to prove how tough I am for the Earth to accept and love me.
It's safe for me to be held in warmth and security.
There is a season for everything, and we are not meant to force ourselves into what does not align.
When I accepted this simple truth, my guidance flooded in. When it's cold, bring nature inside. When it's warm, go outside and experience nature.
Here are 5 ways to connect into nature and the Earth from the comfort of your home:
-
Take a bath with epsom salt: Water is the lifeblood of the Earth, and setting the intention to connect into the Earth through a bath is a very grounding activity, and a great way to bring the magic of nature inside.
-
Get a houseplant and stick your fingers in the dirt: Plants know how to root into the Earth, even when they're inside. Spend a moment each day with your fingers pressed into the dirt and you'll connect in much the same way as walking barefoot in the grass in the summer.
-
Gaze out of your window at the trees: Sit down in front of a window and gaze at the bare branches of the trees. By doing this, you're energetically connecting into the root system of the trees, and you're traveling deep into the magic of the Earth.
-
Create a sandbox for your feet: Create a small box full of sand that you can place under your desk while you're on the computer or in front of your couch while you're relaxing. Place your barefeet into the sand and be transported to the beach.
-
Drink a cup of herbal tea: Set the intention while you're sipping to connect into the Earth through these magical plants.
What is more important than where you are physically is your intention to connect into the Earth, and you can do that in the middle of a warm house. Bonus points for visualizing the connection!
And remember, YOU are more powerful than you’ve ever imagined 💜
Love,
Erin
