The Law Of Attraction Won't Make You Happy
“If I could just figure out this law of attraction thing, I’d be so much happier,” you say.
I’m here to tell you it won’t work. You may be able to create some things you want using the law of attraction. But will getting those things make you happy? Nope. No way.
You can’t pull, or attract happiness to you. Happiness comes from within.
Most of the law of attraction stuff out there tells you you can attract all the things you desire, money, houses, cars, jewelry, etc. The only problem is, that stuff won’t make you happy for long. As soon as you have it, you’ll want the next thing.
The reason learning to manifest things won’t make you happy is so simple.
Material things do not bring happiness. My kids are a great example. No matter how desperate they were to get it at the store, once a new toy is home and the package is open, their enthusiasm lasts approximately five minutes before the toy is tossed to the side. If I’m really lucky, I’ll get twenty minutes out of it.
Adults are not much different than kids in this way. If you want a new car, you’re desperate for it for months, or days or however long it lasts before you can’t take it anymore and head out to buy it. During this frenzy of feeling need for the car, you just know that you’ll feel amazing when you get it. It will solve most of your current car problems. You’ll absolutely feel like a new person. You just have. to. have. it. now!
Once you go out and get the car, it’s so exciting! All your dreams have come true! You spend the first day driving it around to show all your friends and family. You bask in their compliments. The next few days are spent doing every errand you can possibly come up with just so you can spend more time in your glorious new machine. This car is awesome!
Until it’s not. Because soon, very soon, probably within a few days, that car doesn’t feel so new anymore and all the problems in your life still remain, minus the old car problems. Before you got that car, you just knew it would make you happy. And it did…for a few days.
But now you have an excellent new car, but your same old life. No one else seems to care about your new car after their initial congratulations. Honestly, you don’t care about it anymore, because it didn’t make you a newer version of you after all. You’re still you.
The pattern is the same no matter what new thing you’re getting.
Whether it’s a new house, new shoes, a new novel or a new haircut, I promise you, you’ll want something else to feel the gaping hole inside very soon.
There’s nothing wrong with having nice things!
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with nice things. I love nice things. I’m human! I want nice things because…I’m human!
But I understand that those nice things aren’t what’s bringing me happiness. When I follow my dreams, by taking action despite my fears, I’m following my life path and creating what I was born to create. That is what brings me happiness. Knowing that I’m a creator and that my baseline is pure, radiating love. I can buy the material things I want because I’m following my life path and abundance flows towards me when I’m on my path.
In the past I tried to attract, or manifest, the things. But I won’t make that mistake anymore, because it doesn’t work. Even if I get the things, I’m still me. So instead, I spend my creative energy, what most would call attraction, on creating following my life path and my guidance from my inner voice. When I do this, I love myself, because I’m taking action despite my fears.
Life is not a get rich quick scheme
It’s called a life path, not a year or month or even day path, for a reason. You are here to learn and grow, so that one day, when you are ready, you create something amazing to contribute to the expansion of the universe.
Is it possible to manifest happiness?
Of course! All you have to do is change your thoughts. Start being grateful for the good things in your life, like your relationships, whether friends or family. Recognize that you are a being full of love. While material things will always leave you feeling empty, love will fill you up, and that starts with loving yourself, exactly as you are today. When you feel worthy of love, despite your perceived flaws, you are ready to give others the love they deserve.
Think of it this way.
Say you had a daughter that was turning sixteen and you wanted to do something special for her to show her how much you love her. Which would make her feel more loved by you?
-
Buying her a new car.
-
Spending a day doing a bunch of favorite things together and taking pictures.
While she might prefer number one in the short term, she’ll only appreciate it for a short time, while the memories of the special way you spent number two will last a lifetime. When she’s forty, she’ll be showing her daughter pictures of the special day she had with grandma when she turned sixteen.
It’s the same with how you treat yourself. If you keep buying yourself things to try to get happy, you’re only buying yourself off. Where if you spend some time connecting with your inner self, you’ll start to bring out the love for yourself that is buried deep down inside, just waiting to be found.
Here’s a little secret for you.
We are all one. Oneness means that you are God, and there is nothing more powerful than you. The law of attraction is a poor, watered down attempt to explain the law of creation, based on the belief that you are an individual. You were born a creator, and you couldn’t stop creating if you tried. Understanding your creative power and life path is the true path to happiness and self love.
